Brain Fog And Dragons!
Hey, everyone!
Just wanted to give you a quick update on where I've been and what's been going on with me lately.
So…
I had some health issues for a couple of weeks. I was struggling with a persistent headache, fatigue, and was feeling confused all the time. I called it “brain fog.” Because of this, my work was taking way more effort than usual.
We—my wife and I—thought the issues might be related to my previous brain surgeries and their after-effects. So I went in for some tests. After a CT scan, blood tests, and talking with three of my doctors, we think we finally know what's been causing my headaches and brain fog.
Turns out, after my first brain surgery, I started taking a steroid to help with my cortisol levels (you know, the stuff related to fight or flight response, healing energy, etc.). The tumor I had was messing with my body's ability to regulate cortisol. Now that it's gone, my body's kinda confused about how to balance things out.
So basically, I need to take a daily steroid to stay balanced. And when I'm sick, I need a higher dose because my body just isn't doing the job on its own.
Long story short: all I had to do was take a few extra pills for a few days, and voilà! My headaches and brain fog vanished.
I'm feeling way better now and diving back into work. Keep an eye out for new stuff from me very soon!
Thanks for sticking with me!
Your pal,
Otis
March Of Dragons!
Last year I kicked off a drawing challenge called "March of Dragons." You know, like the popular "March of Robots" challenge where you draw a robot each day based on a daily prompt? Yeah, same concept, but with dragons!
I wasn't really planning on doing another "March of Dragons" this year, but hey, enough people asked about it. So guess what? I came up with a fresh list of prompts!
If you're an artsy type and wanna join in on the fun, just use the hashtags #MarchOfDragons and/or #MarchOfDragons2024 when you share your masterpieces on social media! Plus, you can use those same hashtags to check out other artists' dragon-y creations.
Now, I'm not sure if I'll be able to slay all 31 days (I didn't quite make it last year), but I'm gonna give it my best shot and see how many I can do.
So without further ado, here's Day 1: "Dreams"...
And just for kicks, check out some of my fire-breathing friends from last year:
And, of course, this guy:
On The Drawing Board
I recently knocked out this “Chronicles of Narnia” piece, featuring Lucy and Mr. Tumnus. The inspiration for it was kinda funny.
My wife got this art print years back, and it's been hanging in our living room ever since. I see it all the time:
(We’re not sure who the artist is, so if you know, please tell em and I’ll edit this post!)
You know what else I see a lot? This lamppost right across the street:
Somehow, the composition (and wintery vibe) of the art print and the lamppost blended in my mind, and BOOM—I was transported to Narnia.
You never know where you’ll find inspiration.
